Critical Decisions

First Few Moments: Critical Decision

Part of the First Few Moments program, CRITICAL DECISION addresses two of the most important decisions that a responder must make: when to rapidly extricate a patient and what treatment is vital to their survival.

Students are introduced to a problem-based patient assessment algorithm designed for these situations that helps them make these decisions based upon a solid assessment of the scene and patient.

Objectives

1. Predict patient injuries by looking at the damage to a vehicle and using the applied physics as they pertain to the mechanism of injury.

2. Rapidly assess and identify a trauma patient that requires rapid extrication.

3. Find and manage life-threatening injuries.
Format: Interactive presentation

Length: 60-90 minutes

Audience:All First Responders

Some of you may have been having some issues with iTunes and for that we apologize. I want to thank Lee Roche for his solution, as it appears to have solved this curious and annoying problem. Here is his solution: "Just go to Advanced > Subscribe to Podcast and then the url in the box that appears (http://firstfewmoments.com/?feed=rss2) and it is added to iTunes." Thanks Lee!
